With the season just around the corner we would like to give you information on how teams for the boys Sunday MBYLL program are selected and also how teams for the boys Town Tournament League (“TTL”) are going to be selected.
The MBYLL requires teams at each age level to be balanced equally. Because all teams at each age level have to practice together this year we are not selecting teams prior to the beginning of the season. This year each age level will have a week or two of practice, then the coaches will get together and select players with the primary goal of ensuring that the strength of the teams are equal. At that time players will be notified of what team they have been assigned to and who their coach is. It is anticipated that each age level will practice together throughout the year regardless of team assignment.
Hanover Lax also participates in the TTL program. TTL is a South Shore based “select” lacrosse league (information and details about this league can be found at ttllax.com.) The TTL program is open only to boys in grades 5 through 8. We are allowed to enter two teams in this program, one for grades 5&6 and one for grades 7&8. League rules mandate both a limited roster (maximum of 25) and that the composition of the team be split approximately 60%-40% between the older and younger grades. Unfortunately, these rules mean that not everyone who wants to play on this team will be able to. These teams have one additional practice and game per week. Hanover Lax requires players on this team to attend one MBYLL practice per week and play in the Sunday games. There is an additional $60 fee for this program. Team selection will be based on the same evaluations done when the MBYLL teams are selected – there is no separate tryout. It is extremely important that if you are interested in playing in this program that you are at the initial practices when we select the teams.

Spring is almost here and that means another great season of Hanover Lacrosse is right around the corner!!!
You will all be receiving information from your coaches within the next few weeks about practice. If you have signed up this year and do not receive an email don't worry - we have switched to a new contact system this year and we are sure there will unfortunately be a few errors for us to work through.
One thing will be different this year from past years. Because of the construction at the high school field space for all sports programs in Hanover is at a premium. We have worked out that all of our practices, boys and girls, will be held on Monday's and Wednesday's at either Center School or Myrtle Street. Our games will also be held at these locations.
